Freedom Firm is a registered trust in India engaged in fighting sexual trafficking in minor girls. At Freedom Firm, I was part of the legal team; and my main task was to write the argument of a writ petition.
Freedom Firm started its operations in 2006. It initiated its activities with a staff of five people. Currently, Freedom Firm has 12 employees distributed into the legal team, investigation team and after-care team. Its mission is to rescue, restore, and seek justice. Freedom Firm investigates where there is trafficking of minor girls, and then it reports it to the police. Freedom Firm and the Police conduct the raids. After a successful raid, the rescued minor girls are placed in sheltered homes where the Freedom Firm social workers build relationship with them and provide counseling. The legal work officially starts after the police file the charge sheets against the brothel keeper, the manager, and any other person involved. Freedom Firm can be part of the judicial proceeding or provide assistance to the public prosecutors. Unfortunately, many times the raids fail because the police do not cooperate or the brothel keepers and managers escape taking the minor girls with them.
